Don't Hold Back For Others

Putting yourself first is not selfish. Being proud of your accomplishments is not selfish. To be completely whole in your solitude is not selfish. We really limit ourselves when we avoid being "over-the-top" or "too much". Society has grown a weird sensitivity when it comes to people being their authentic selves. As a result, we have built the bad habit of holding back some of our best qualities, only to please someone else. Personally speaking, I have always been the type of person to share things that I am proud of, or excited about. It never comes from wanting to put someone down, I just like to share my happiness. There is definitely a fine line between sharing news and bragging, however people should not be afraid to talk about themselves if it does not harm others. My point is, there is no reason to fear being unapologetically yourself. Everyone deserves to live their best life, and no one should feel the need to hold back for others.

  1. Couldn't agree more! I don't usually hold myself back for others, but I tend to do it for myself; I always think I'm not good enough for my own standards, and whenever I accomplish something amazing, I don't celebrate it - I just start doing whatever is next. I'm now working on that, and have recently written a "brag list" with all the things I've accomplished so far. It's so easy to forget about how far we've come - we must celebrate it at all times!
