The Key To A Healthy Lifestyle
"How do you stay so skinny?" - Is a question I am ready to give people a full lesson on when asked :) People may think the answer is in a specific diet or workout routine, but honestly, there is so so so much more to it. The answer is in your everyday habits, lifestyle, and the overall way you look at life. As human beings, we clearly need nourishment, and that comes in the form of food. I've found that it is when we start to abuse the simple parts of life is when we become unhappy with ourselves. It's taken up until now for me to truly understand what a healthy lifestyle is for me. I genuinely enjoy nourishing my body with whole foods, and I genuinely enjoy eating like trash on a Saturday night. The key is, loving both.
The more you tell yourself a certain food is forbidden in your diet, the more you become obsessed with it. The best thing I have ever done for myself is deciding that there are no "good" or "bad" foods. If I'm craving pizza for lunch, I'm going to eat it, so that I can crave kale and quinoa the next day. Based on my personal experiences, there is nothing long term about a restrictive diet. Another major component to feeding your body the correct amount is keeping portions in mind. I feel like every individual can feel out what the correct portion is for themselves. Personally, I eat until I'm 80% full, only because I really dislike that heavy, full feeling. I've done a lot of research on intuitive eating, and I highly recommend you do the same. It focuses a lot on honoring your hunger and recognizing when you are satisfied. There is much more I want to write about regarding this topic, but I'm saving that for another blog post. Bottom line, do not obsess. Listen to your body, and eat nutritionally dense foods, because they help you thrive!
